Cannondale Associates recently interviewed several retail grocery executives on the timely and important subject of trade promotion effectiveness. The discussions focused on how retailers incorporate trade analytics into their own planning processes, which CP manufacturers exhibit trade planning best practices, and where opportunity areas reside for both parties.  John Carlson will review Cannondale’s research, and I will provide a perspective on what this means for CP manufacturers.

I will provide the opening and closing remarks for a presentation featuring two DemandTec customers – Kraft and Safeway – as they they discuss the business virtues of online Deal Management.  This presentation will showcase some of the key performance metrics that both trading partners realized over the 3+ years (and counting) they have been collaborating on trade promotions using DemandTec’s solution.

Interview with Consumer Goods Technology
December, 2008

Lori Castle, editor of the CGT publication, asked several questions on the subject of win-win trade promotion planning between retailers and manufacturers.  This interview is based on a primary research project that DemandTec and AMR Research wrapped up earlier in the year.

Contributed Article – Journal of Trading Partner Practices
November, 2008

The Journal of Trading Partner Practices published a contributed story regarding keeping CPG brands on course in a down economy.  I wrote up a brief blog entry on this story.

AMR Research / DemandTec Webcast
September 18, 2008

Lora Cecere from AMR Research and I unveiled the findings of our primary research, titled “Who is Driving Trade Effectiveness”.  In this study, we surveyed  100 CPG industry sales, finance and marketing professionals to get their views on trade promotion best practices in their respective companies.  We also surveyed 10 retailers and spoke with a few Wall Street industry analysts.  Some interesting findings, for sure.

I moderated a lunchtime roundtable discussion on “Optimizing Trade Promotion” at the CGT Sales & Marketing Summit.  The discussion was well attended with representatives from Pepsico, Mentholatum and others, and the food was pretty good too.

Booz Allen / DemandTec Webcast
January 8, 2008

DemandTec and Booz Allen partnered on a primary research project to uncover how retailers and CPG manufacturers are collaborating around trade promotions.  We surveyed more than 100 leading retailers and manufacturers and asked some very pointed questions about how they work together (or don’t work together).  This webcast discusses many of the key insights that we uncovered in this study.
